I am truly sorry for sharing incorrect information today. Speculation and rumors run rampant. I do my best to be cautious and share accurate information.
Apparently, the commissioners are not at liberty to discuss the specific business. However, it is not an asphalt plant. There is speculation that it may be a roofing company, which may involve producing shingles—that’s where the asphalt connection came from.
There is also speculation that it could be a less concerning type of business.
I have been told the meeting was productive and that there is a sense the commissioners are considering how this particular business will affect the aesthetics and welfare of the community, beyond simply creating 100–150 jobs.

I was there today, and the whole situation still seemed off. The company required the commissioners to sign a non-disclosure agreement. If everything is above board, why the secrecy? Why couldn’t anything about the company be discussed? We also have no say in this addition to the town. All Jeff kept saying was, “You will be pleased” or “There will be minimal to no environmental impact.” If that’s true, then why the non-disclosure? The entire thing feels very suspicious.
Truly curious - how can it be a public hearing but then info is not allowed to be shared with the public? Am I misunderstanding something?
